What is Chlorine?
Chlorine is a natural element, a yellow-green gas at room temperature. It is heavier than air, but under the correct pressure and temperature, it can be converted into liquid. Chlorine is found in the earth and can also be found in the sea. It is essential to the life of animals and plants. Chlorine can be dissipated for aquarium use by allowing the water to stand in an open container for 24 hours, or it can be instantly removed by treating water with a standard dechlorinator.

Why does my city add Chlorine to my water?
Chlorine is a chemical element that is frequently added to municipal water supplies as a disinfectant. Preventing Biofilm establishment in municipal water supply systems.

Is chlorine harmful?
Chlorine offers you no benefit after you consume it. From that point on, your body considers chlorine to be a free radical.

Can chlorine be linked to cancer?  In the chlorination process itself, chlorine combines with natural organic matter decaying vegetation to form potent cancer causing trihalomethanes (THM’s) or haloforms. Trihalomethanes collectively include such carcinogens as chloroforms, bromoforms carbon tectachloride, bischlorothane and others. The amount of THM’s in our drinking water is theoretically regulated by the EPA. Although the maximum amount allowed by law is 100 ppb, a 1976 study showed 31 of 112 municipal water systems exceeded this limit.1
